Mike Bloemker has spent the last 2 decades coaching the cross country and track teams at JCCC. During his tenure he led the Cavaliers to five national championships (1 cross country, 4 half marathon) and 13 national runner-up finishes. In addition to his coaching accomplishments, Mike managed all home cross country and track meets on campus. He was also the meet director for numerous NJCAA events including the NJCAA National Half Marathon Championship in 2008, 2009, and 2010, the NJCAA National Cross Country Meet in 1998, and most recently the NJCAA National Indoor Track Meet in 2017.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1995 from Central Missouri State University, and his master's degree in education from the University of St. Mary in 2005. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership at Baker University in 2019.
Katherine Bloemker has been very involved with meet management and timing at JCCC over the past 10 years, assisting with the management of many home cross country and track meets. She was the Region VI cross country championship meet director in 2006 and 2009. Her duties included meet management, packet pick-up, timing, results, logo development, and course set-up. She also served as an assistant meet director for the 2009-2010 NJCAA National Half Marathon Championships and assistant meet director for the NJCAA National Indoor Track Meet in 2017.
Katherine earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University in 2005. She earned her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with research in biomechanics from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2013.
